Gratitude And Forgiveness

Negative Bias

It’s easy to get stuck in our thoughts. To make matters worse, our brains were designed to hold on to the negative encounters we have and let go of the positive ones. This makes sense from a historical perspective, as remembering to watch out for saber-tooth tigers is a useful skill for survival!

Gratitude

One way to focus on the positive a little better is to actively practice gratitude. For me, it’s easy to focus on improving brain health by healing your body. It’s always a good reminder that we can start with our thoughts to make the other changes happen more easily. Again, everything connects.

One way to get started on this is to keep a simple journal like this one.

Through the practice of gratitude, we can move further along the continuum of forgiveness and change some of the patterns we remain stuck in.
